APLU HBCU Summit Call for Proposals

Register now for the 2018 HBCU Summit in Miami, FL held June 27-29, 2018. The summit will bring together HBCU senior-level administrators, faculty, and staff to learn about best practices and develop strategies for historically black institutions to improve student success.

The Call for Proposals for the 2018 HBCU Summit Poster Presentation is now open. Poster presenters will make a meaningful contribution to this dynamic and interactive conference. Learn more about the poster session submit your application via this online form. Preference will be given to applications received by May 25.

The HBCU Summit will focus on three strands that will offer cross-sectional appeal to a broad group of campus faculty from STEM and computer science disciplines to academic and student affairs.

  • Pedagogy with a focus on living-learning communities and their impact on campuses and the process for implementation.
  • Student Success will explore new and creative models to advising that provide alternatives to the traditional practices such as early alert and integrated data systems. During the working sessions of each strand, participants will develop action plans aimed at enhancing existing or implementing new initiatives aimed at improving student learning, student retention, and graduation rates.
  • Grant Writing is final strand, offering the opportunity to work collaboratively with fellow colleagues in developing a grant proposal outline based on goals developed during the conference working sessions in the first two strands.
