APLU has named Craig Lindwarm as its new Vice President of Congressional & Governmental Affairs. He will lead the association’s Office of Congressional and Governmental Affairs and coordinate and oversee the efforts of the Council on Governmental Affairs.
“During his nearly seven years at APLU, Craig Lindwarm has provided tremendous leadership in his issue areas working on the Higher Education Act, immigration and visa policy, tax and business issues, and intellectual property,” APLU President Peter McPherson said. “Craig is a strategic thinker who is adept at building key relationships and thinking creatively about policy and advocacy solutions. He has also demonstrated a deep commitment to the CGA and the values of our public universities.”
Lindwarm joined APLU in 2012 from Capitol Hill, where he was Senior Legislative Assistant and Deputy Communications Director for a member of the House of Representatives. He handled education and immigration policy issues among a number of other areas. Prior to working on Capitol Hill, Craig worked for the congressman in his district office while earning his law degree from St. John’s University. Craig’s undergraduate degree is from Binghamton University, State University of New York.
Jennifer Poulakidas, who previously held the position of Vice President of Congressional & Governmental Affairs at APLU, is assuming her new role of Associate Vice Chancellor of Government & Community Relations at UCLA in coming weeks.
