The National Science Foundation-funded INCLUDES Alliance, Aspire: The National Alliance for Inclusive & Diverse STEM Faculty, is seeking applications from institutions interested in participating in a three-year institutional change effort to help reform their recruitment, hiring, and retention practices. APLU and the Center for the Integration of Research, Teaching, and Learning (CIRTL) at the University of Wisconsin-Madison lead the Aspire Alliance, which aims to broaden the diversity of STEM faculty and encourage the use of inclusive teaching practices for all faculty with the ultimate goal of further diversifying those who study in STEM fields. The application period for the second cohort of the Aspire Alliance’s Institutional Change Initiative (IChange), is open until Thursday August 1, 2019 at 8pm ET.
The IChange Network will provide participating institutions with comprehensive support and resources for institutional change that includes access to national partners who can offer concierge-style technical assistance. Working with participating institutions as a community of transformation, the IChange Network will also provide access to an institutional self-assessment for inclusive faculty hiring that APLU developed, priority access to a leadership institute to assist with professional development for existing faculty from underrepresented groups, and a competitive funding program to foster new campus-based initiatives to diversify STEM faculty.
Institutions seeking to learn more about the IChange Network and the application process are invited to participate in either of two Application FAQ Webinars, to be held on June 13th at 1:00 pm ET and July 1st at 1:00 pm ET. More information about the application process and webinar registration links can be found on Aspire’s IChange Network website. Chief Academic Officers or their representatives at interested institutions should email their applications to Jessica Bennett, Assistant Director of STEM Education at APLU.
