Building off the celebration of the 25th anniversary of the 1994 Land-Grant Act held during its Annual Meeting last November, APLU celebrated the important role of tribal colleges and universities last week during the American Indian Higher Education Consortium’s Legislative Summit in Washington, DC. Doug Steele, APLU’s Vice President for Food, Agriculture, and Natural Resources also presented an update on APLU’s agricultural activities at the meeting. Billy President, American Indian Higher Education Consortium.)
The 37 tribal colleges operate more 75 campuses and sites across the U.S. offering quality, affordable higher education to more than 230 federally recognized tribes and students from more than 30 states. Last year, ECOP passed a resolution celebrating the signing of the Equity in Educational Land-Grant Status Act.
