The application period for APLU’s 2020 Degree Completion Award is now open. All APLU institutions are strongly encouraged to apply for the award after reviewing the application and guidelines. Applications are due by August 1, 2020 and the winner will be announced during the APLU Annual Meeting on November 8-10.
APLU knows institutions’ top priority right now is addressing urgent needs arising from COVID-19 and the association does not want to draw critical resources from those efforts. As a result, APLU has extended the application deadline and streamlined the process. While member universities are working hard to on a myriad of issues related to COVID-19, APLU also knows that the public university commitment to increasing degrees remains unwavering. Even amid the current crisis, institutions are working hard to advance degree completion efforts. As always, this award aims to highlight the best examples of this work and share them with others to help scale progress nationally.
APLU’s Degree Completion Award seeks to recognize and reward public universities that are increasing degree completion rates, and total numbers of undergraduate degrees awarded, while improving educational access, quality, and equity. This award complements key initiatives, such as the association’s Powered by Publics initiative, in providing member institutions with innovative and promising evidence-based practices for adoption, adaptation, and scaling.
The association hopes each member institution will consider applying for the 2020 Degree Completion Award so that APLU can honor your work and share it with other public universities as we collectively work to advance degree completion and academic success.
Up to five finalists for the award will be showcased at a prominent session during the APLU Annual Meeting at which a representative from each institution will present an overview of their work and discuss innovative degree completion practices.
