APLU this week launched the Council on Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion, the successor to APLU’s former Commission on Access, Diversity, and Equity. The Council on Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (CDEI) convenes senior diversity leaders such as Chief Diversity Officers from APLU’s member institutions to tackle issues such as equitable access and success; national best practices around the areas of diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging in higher education and the public mission; and teaching, learning, recruitment, and retention innovations for students, faculty, and staff, relevant to APLU’s members. Register here for the CDEI’s inaugural summer meeting, held in collaboration with the APLU-led NSF INCLUDES Aspire Alliance’s Institutional Change Network Meeting, will take place July 13-15 in Crystal City, VA.
CDEI seeks to build a thriving community of DEI experts and practitioners to serve as a resource to support, advise, and collaborate with APLU councils, commissions, and staff regarding the integrated efforts of supporting diversity, equity, and inclusion at APLU institutions. The CDEI-specific sessions at the July meeting will be focused on creating a vision and planning an agenda for engagement and growth.
If you have questions, or would like more information about CDEI, please reach out to APLU’s Assistant Vice President, STEM Education & Diversity, Equity and Inclusion, Robin Parent.
