Institutionalizing IEP and the APLU/UEDA Foundations of Talent, Innovation, and Place

On May 17, APLU hosted a webinar for its current IEP startup cohort built around the theme of Institutionalizing IEP and the APLU/UEDA Foundations of Talent, Innovation, and Place.

Dr. Daraius Irani, Vice President of Strategic Partnerships and Applied Research at Towson University, presented.

The presentation began with an overview of Towson’s Office of Strategic Partnerships and Applied Research and its purpose in advancing Towson’s role as an anchor institution and how the IEP program fit into Towson’s “Engage” Strategic Goal, particularly in creating a thriving and competitive economy.

Dr. Irani then segued into discussing Towson’s definition of economic engagement, their data collection strategy, and their Growth and Improvement Plan (see below).

  • Sharing and Connecting our Story with Greater Baltimore
    • Physically connecting the campus to the local area

The presentation concluded with Dr. Irani noting that Towson’s Growth and Improvement Plan will be key to building a thriving economy in Greater Baltimore.
