APLU Preparing to Work with Trump Administration and a New Congress
With the election now over, President Trump set to return to the White House, and a 119th Congress that will begin in January, APLU’s governmental affairs team is preparing to work with the new government. As APLU has done with every presidential transition, the association’s governmental affairs team is developing a policy priorities brief for the transition team that outlines ways in which public universities can partner with the new administration on shared goals.
Both during the transition and after the Trump administration takes office, APLU will work to advocate for the public and land-grant university community’s position on issues, including student aid, higher education and research funding, research security, immigration policy, and more.
Along with its members, APLU will also continue its close partnership with leaders on Capitol Hill from both parties to ensure the priorities and perspectives of public and land-grant universities are heard and understood clearly as Congress takes action on an array of funding and policy issues.
