Cleveland State University and Kent State University are part of a new initiative by the Association of Public and Land-grant Universities aimed at better supporting students. The Powered by Publics: Scaling Student Success initiative was announced this week. About 130 public institutions and systems will be working in small clusters, with a goal to “improve college access, advance equity and increase college degrees awarded,” a news release said. Some of the clusters are concentrated on geographic area, while others are focused on the type of schools involved or the issues they’ll be examining. Cleveland State will be part of what’s being called the urban cluster.
