White House seeks to tighten political oversight of grantmaking
The White House today announced it plans to make major changes in how the U.S. government manages research funding. Some scientists are horrified, saying the proposal from the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) would replace peer review with the judgment of nonexpert political appointees sworn to carry out the wishes of President Donald Trump, reports Science Magazine.
