APLU Applauds House Passage of the Future Act

Washington – APLU President Peter McPherson tonight released the following statement regarding House passage of the FUTURE Act.

“APLU applauds the House of Representatives for bipartisan passage of the FUTURE Act, which would ensure critical funding for our nation’s HCBUs, HSIs, and other MSIs continues. As noted in the letter I sent earlier this week, this bill will ensure mandatory funding does not expire at the end of the month. This funding is used by institutions for a range of efforts, including strengthening STEM education, enhancing research capacity, investing in academic services and student success, and providing support to students at risk of dropping out. We urge the Senate to quickly take up and approve the legislation on a bipartisan basis.”
