Washington, DC – Association of Public and Land-grant Universities (APLU) President Peter McPherson today released the following statement regarding the College Board’s new Landscape resource.
“We applaud the College Board’s revised admissions resource, now called Landscape. Postsecondary institutions use a host of factors to make admissions decisions and the new tool helps paint a more complete portrait of applicants’ learning environments, enabling institutions to better identify promising students through a holistic admissions process. A growing body of evidence, including research led by APLU and the Coalition of Urban Serving Universities, demonstrates the value of holistic admissions in increasing access to higher education and better preparing the country’s workforce.
“We thank the College Board for their leadership in this space. The nation’s public universities are deeply committed to improving college access for all student populations. Landscape empowers institutions to take a more comprehensive view of the students applying to enroll. Making better-informed admissions decisions is key to advancing college access, equity, and completion – all of which are key to our nation’s future.”
