May 14, 2014—The U.S. Department of State and the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs yesterday issued a joint declaration launching “The Transatlantic Friendship and Mobility Initiative”, which aims to double the number of U.S. students going to France and the number of French students coming to the U.S. by 2025. APLU was involved in the discussions leading to the declaration and is pleased to endorse the initiative.
We strongly believe that this will not only boost student mobility in both countries, but also incentivize further collaboration between French and U.S. higher education institutions to drive research and innovation. NAFSA, the Association of American Universities, and the Institute of International Education also endorse the initiative. Read the State Department statement.
