Washington, DC – Association of Public and Land-grant Universities (APLU) President Peter McPherson today issued the following statement regarding bomb threats against HBCUs in recent weeks.
“APLU stands with our HBCU members and other schools and university centers serving Black students across the country that have been subject to bomb threats today and in recent weeks. We are grateful for the ongoing efforts of law enforcement officials who are seeking to bring to justice all who are responsible and make clear that society cannot and will not tolerate such violent and racist threats. Universities are places of hope and opportunity and it is incumbent upon us all to safeguard them.”
