April 10, 2014—APLU President Peter McPherson issued the following statement on President Obama’s nomination of Dr. William “Bro” Adams as the Chairman of the National Endowment for the Humanities.
“I congratulate Dr. Adams on his nomination to serve as Chairman of the National Endowment for the Humanities. He brings a great deal of experience, leadership, and thoughtful insight to this position. Those of us in the public university community look forward to working closely with him to further the advancement of the humanities in the United States.
“NEH has gone without a chairman for some time. I urge the Senate to take up Dr. Adams’ confirmation expeditiously so that NEH and the humanities will once again have a strong leader.”
