APLU Statement on Students, Faculty, and Alumni of Canadian Universities Lost in Airline Tragedy in Iran

Washington, DC – Association of Public and Land-grant Universities (APLU) President Peter McPherson today released the following statement about the loss of students, faculty, and alumni of Canadian universities who were killed in the airline tragedy in Iran on Wednesday.

“We are deeply saddened by the airline tragedy in Iran that claimed the lives of 176 people, including many with ties to Canadian universities. We mourn with our Canadian colleagues over the loss of so many university students, faculty, and alumni who made the world a better place through their research, service, and work. We extend our deepest condolences to their families and communities.”
