Washington, DC – Association of Public and Land-grant Universities (APLU) President Peter McPherson today released the following statement regarding President Obama’s nomination of John B. King, Jr. as U.S. Secretary of Education.
“APLU applauds the nomination of Acting Secretary John B. King, Jr. for U.S. Secretary of Education. It’s important that the Department has a confirmed secretary in place over the final year of this administration. Acting Secretary King has proven himself to be more than capable of carrying out the job. We urge the Senate to hold a confirmation hearing and then quickly vote and approve this nomination.”
