RESEARCH, SCIENCE & TECHNOLOGY

The nation’s public research universities have a unique, long-standing partnership with the federal government conducting research on behalf of the American people. This research represents one of the nation’s greatest assets, which is why it is a target for foreign attack. APLU is working with its member institutions to help protect against foreign interference, influence, and theft of research and the discoveries that come from it.

A growing number of public universities are taking these efforts to the next level through collaborative, multidisciplinary research known as Public Impact Research (PIR). To spur broader adoption of PIR, APLU is working with member universities to identify best practices and elevate awareness of the work.

RESEARCH, SCIENCE & TECHNOLOGY

Sharing research findings with the public is a central principle of the scholarly enterprise, and part of a long-standing tradition of open inquiry that encourages debate and public scrutiny of research findings. APLU is working to provide guidance and resources to our universities to facilitate the sharing of research and to coordinate our efforts across our institutions.
