Prior to joining APLU, Patrick spent eight years in the United States Senate working for Senator Bill Cassidy (R-La.). Most recently, he served as Deputy Education Policy Director for the Senate Committee on Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions (HELP), where he led the Senator’s higher education portfolio, including student loan policy, student financial aid, accreditation, institutional accountability, workforce development, and research policy.
Patrick earned a bachelor’s degree in Collaborative Education from Birmingham-Southern College and is a certified special education teacher. He also holds a Master of Education in Education Policy from the University of Washington. He is currently pursuing a Juris Doctor at American University Washington College of Law as a part-time student and is expected to graduate in May 2027.
