As a Senior Associate, Office of Food, Agriculture, and Natural Resources, Flannery Bethel brings organizational, congressional, and on-farm experience to her position at APLU. Originally from Portland, Oregon, Flannery holds a B.A. in International Affairs from the Robert D. Clark Honors College at the University of Oregon.

While working as an intern for United States Senator Jeff Merkley, Flannery grew her knowledge of social, food, and agricultural policy before joining an Oregon NGO as an outreach coordinator focusing on issues such as food security, nutrition, and hunger.

Having grown up working on farms, Flannery has always had a passion for food and agriculture. As a result, Flannery pursued a Master of Public Administration from George Washington University, volunteering for the GWU Food Policy Institute and receiving the George Washington University Service Award. In her free time, Flannery enjoys cooking, singing, playing the piano, and hiking.
