Kacy Redd, Ph.D.
Associate Vice President, Research & STEM Education

Kacy Redd is the Associate Vice President of Research & STEM Education at APLU. To support the research enterprise, she collaborates with vice presidents of research at more than 250 public research universities to increase public access to research (NSF# 1939279, #1837847, and #1945938), to build the research capacity of research institutions (NSF #2324469), and broaden participation of STEM (#1834518 and #2041007). She also leads APLU’s effort to modernize scholarship for the public good, generously supported by the Rita Allen Foundation, the Kavli Foundation, and the Burroughs Wellcome Foundation, and APLU’s Public Impact Research work. To improve undergraduate STEM education, she established the Network of STEM Education Centers (NSF #1524832), now serving over 200 STEM Education Centers and Institutes at more than 160 institutions. To support these projects, she has successfully secured external funding exceeding $10 million.

Kacy serves on the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine’s (NASEM) Roundtable on Systemic Change in Undergraduate STEM Education and NASEM’s Roundtable on Aligning Incentives for Open Scholarship. Her passion lies in connecting university leaders, funders, and policymakers to advance the scientific and education enterprise at public research universities. Kacy Redd earned her Ph.D. in neuroscience from Columbia University, supported by an HHMI Predoctoral Fellowship, and her B.S. from the University of Southern Mississippi.
