Michelle Szechenyi joined APLU in June 2018 as the Director of Human Resources. Prior to joining APLU, she worked at the International Youth Foundation (IYF) where she served as the Global Human Resources Director. Michelle has over ten years of HR experience and holds both the Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) and the SHRM-SCP certifications. Michelle first became interested in human resources when she served as a Country Program Officer for Landmine Survivors Network (LSN) where she managed programs in El Salvador, Eritrea, Jordan and Vietnam and provided capacity building support to LSN’s overseas offices in both organizational management and development and the direct provision of rehabilitation services to landmine survivors and amputees. Michelle has worked at ACDI/VOCA and the Institute of International Education and spent time living in Uganda, Lesotho and Zimbabwe. Michelle holds a Master’s Degree in International Affairs from the School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS) of Johns Hopkins University.
