APLU, AAU, and AUTM letter to Senators Thom Tillis (R-NC) and Adam Schiff (D-CA) endorsing the Patent Eligibility and Restoration Act (PERA). The bill creates clear and consistent rules about what inventions are patent eligible will catalyze research and innovation across our campuses and improves pathways of bringing breakthrough innovations to the marketplace. This bill provides clearer technology transfer guideposts for our member institutions, particularly in innovative fields like biotechnology, artificial intelligence, and medical diagnostics.

APLU joined the Energy Sciences Coalition urging the Senate to consider the nomination of Dr. Dario Gil as the Department of Energy (DOE) Under Secretary for Science as expeditiously as possible. Dr. Gil was reported favorably out of the Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee on April 30 and is still waiting for a full Senate confirmation vote.
