From Public Universities to Public Service: Reception for Interns from APLU Member Institutions

Members of APLU’s Council on Governmental Affairs from Texas A&M University System and the University of Alaska System recently organized a networking event for interns serving in federal relations offices at APLU institutions in Washington, DC. The event brought together over 30 students for a career discussion led by former interns who’ve built successful careers in advocacy and public service. Speakers shared best practices for networking, finding early career positions in Washington, and how students can translate their academic experience to advocacy.

The event also provided the interns with the opportunity to get a free professional headshot taken with the backdrop of the National Mall.
