Mentorship for Academic & Personalized Student Success (MAPSS) Initiative

Supported by a $1.3 million grant from the ECMC Foundation, the (MAPSS) Initiative helps APLU member institutions pilot, refine, and scale peer mentorship models designed to improve student success outcomes. Through an APLU-led community of practice, participating institutions collaborate to share implementation strategies, strengthen institutional capacity, and develop sustainable approaches to mentorship.

The initiative is conducted in partnership with Mentor Collective, whose technology-enabled platform supports institutions in identifying barriers to student success and integrating data-informed decision-making into broader student success strategies. MAPSS is designed to help institutions move mentorship beyond isolated programs and toward coordinated, institutionally supported approaches that improve student engagement, persistence, and completion.
