COR Listserv

Listserv Guidelines

The Council on Research (COR) seeks to serve our members as  leaders in their university and community by creating a trusted, connected network of senior research officers.  The COR Listserv is an online community through email to keep our members engaged and informed.  The COR Listserv is a great way to solicit the advice of your peers, benefit from their experience, and participate in an ongoing conversation. We encourage members to express any questions, ideas, or concerns, as well as share information and best practices.

Please take a moment to acquaint yourself with the important guidelines to participate on the Listserv to ensure the best possible experience for all Listserv members. We will periodically send out the guidelines to the COR Listserv as a friendly reminder for experienced users and to assist newer users with listserv operations.

Please contact Kevin Cooke, Ph.D., Director, Research Policy, if you have any questions.

Listserv Members

The Listserv is intended for members of APLU’s COR, which includes Vice Presidents of Research, Associate Vice Presidents of Research, and other campus leader’s responsibility for research policy and administration, and for graduate education. If you know any university research officer that would like to be added to the listserv or have specific questions about the Listserv, please contact Kevin Cooke.

Listserv Etiquette

Please send messages such as “thanks for the information” or “me, too” to individuals, not to the entire list. Do this by using your e-mail application’s forwarding option and typing in or cutting and pasting in the e-mail address of the individual to whom you want to respond.  This will cut down on the large number of email messages flowing on specific topics, which some COR members have requested we diminish.

Warn other Listserv subscribers of lengthy messages either in the subject line or at the beginning of the message body with a line that says “Long Message.”

Do not send administrative messages, such as “remove me from the list”, through the listserv. Such messages need not be received by every member of the listserv. To unsubscribe from the list, follow the directions at the bottom of the listserv email message.

When using an Auto Reply message for times you are out of the office, please be sure to “Create a Rule” (this is easily done with Microsoft Outlook’s Out of Office Assistant) that would prohibit sending the message to the list.

Managing your Inbox

Use your inbox rules to organize your email. You can create a rule based on a message, or from a template.

To unsubscribe from the COR list, click the link at the bottom of your listserv email.
