The mission of the Knowledge Center is to improve development assistance to higher education around the world. We pursue this mission because we believe that institutions of higher education are vital to development, innovation, and poverty reduction.
Borlaug Higher Education Agricultural Research & Development Program
APLU was asked to help establish one of the programs within the broader Borlaug 21st Century Leadership Program, called the Feed the Future Borlaug Higher Education Agricultural Research and Development Program (BHEARD). 
Feed the Future Research Conference
In 2011, USAID and USDA partnered with APLU and BIFAD to convene a consultative process for engaging the U.S. and international research communities to respond to USAID's Feed the Future Research Strategy.

Africa-U.S. Higher Education Inititative 
In July of 2007 APLU, the Partnership to Cut Hunger and Poverty in Africa, and the Forum for Agricultural Research in Africa (FARA) in partnership with Higher Education for Development (HED), and the American Distance Education Consortium (ADEC) came together to form an initiative...
