Access to post-secondary education continues to be a critical driver of upward mobility, providing bachelor’s degree holders higher wages and greater opportunities for advancement throughout their lifetimes. Yet a rapidly changing economy, shifting demographics and needs of students, increasing but still low completion rates, and a growing demand for 21st Century Skills are compelling higher education leaders to test new models for higher education that provide opportunities for life-long learning, more flexible education and career pathways, and opportunities to learn, apply, and communicate a broader, interdisciplinary set of skills.

This report presumes that a digital-forward design is not only useful, but that it will increasingly be a de facto standard of practice in postsecondary education course design. Supporting the financial wellness of all students is central to college access, affordability, and completion. It’s also a critical lever for addressing equity gaps. To better understand how institutions can support financial wellness, equity, and student success, the High Pell cluster of APLU’s Powered by Publics initiative recently completed an examination into the delivery, content, and assessment of financial wellness programing culminating in the development of a Financial Wellness Conceptual Framework.
