Scanning the Engagement Landscape
APLU’s former Council on Engagement and Outreach (now part of the Commission on Economic & Community Engagement) is part of an ever-growing network of national and international organizations that emphasize and advance university community partnerships and scholarly engagement. To demonstrate the growth and vitality of this mission-based focus for APLU membership and beyond, Laurie Van Egeren of Michigan State University collaborated with CEO to develop an infographic, Scanning the Engagement Landscape: University Engagement by the Numbers. As demonstrated by the infographic, engagement, outreach, and community partnerships are central to the work of our APLU member universities.

Agriculture, Human Sciences & Natural Resources
Iowa State University will establish and host a new national Institute for Antimicrobial Resistance Research and Education. APLU and the Association of American Veterinary Medical Colleges (AAVMC) chose Iowa State to lead the institute, which is designed to foster and coordinate research and education activities using a One Health approach to comprehensively tackle the AMR problem.
